Light, sound, space & sensation.
"Light has always facinated scientists, philosophers, religious thinkers and artists. How does it affect our emotions and sensations?"
'"Licht, mehr licht!" (light more light) were the last words spoken by Gothe, a novelist who was also fascinated by the optical sciences. This mysterious incident is reminiscent of near death experiences- tunnels of light, also known as tunnels of death'.
The installation, created by French visual artist Guillaume Marmin, draws on inspiration from this theme to create an immersive experience exploring the links between light, sound and space. I found the instillation confusing at first, because with the sound and light movement it was hard to gage the size of the space, also weather the shadows of other people visiting the installation were really there or simply reflections. The tunnel affect was so effective, while inside the installation I felt like I was in a space free from time and fully immersed in the sensation of the experience.
