My work so far has revolved around my starting point of Inhabited Streets. I’ve taken a photoshoot, done a few sketches and prints relating to these words. I’ve focussed mainly on doorways, drawing my main inspiration from a door being a symbol of habitation. I’ve found doors interesting to make prints and sketches of, however I feel that so far, my work has been very open ended with no real meaning or obvious direction. Over the next part of my project, I would like to change things up and focus more on the people; how they inhabit a space, how people leave their mark on an environment, traces of habitation within the city.

So my idea is to continue focusing on the idea of inhabited streets, but I would like to direct it more. My current thought is to look at the culture of a specific street, I was thinking Cheltenham road (stokes croft), as this area is especially busy and has lots of artistic culture, events, food and people to document. There would be plenty to explore within this area and I feel I could create an interesting body of work based around stokes croft; and try to capture the vibrancy of this particular part of Bristol and the people inhabiting it. I intend to begin this project by filling a small sketch book of small things I see around the stokes croft area, then developing these sketches further into prints and paintings. Alongside this I’m going to do a few colour film shoots to capture the colours, textures, movement and light of the city.

I would like to document this in three main mediums; Print making, Drawing and Film Photography. To do this I will need to borrow a film camera, and to have access to printing ink and paper; besides this I have all the supplies I need to begin my new project.

Above are some artists I've drawn some inspiration from; these include Bernd + Hilla Becher, Tom Cox, Jess Wilson, Tracy Emin, Willy Doherty and Nuno Cera.
